A year later may be an acceptable time for DLC to be announced and developed. Although they may still know about it 6 months before that. Also they might as well take that time to work on the sequel. I rather quit buying games I know ahead of time about the DLC, and get pissed I didn’t (like Blazblue’s latest and Kokanoe and Hazama’s Chrono-Clone, MK8). Early unlocks for the unsporting is okay, as long as unlocked gears on the earned trail has some more strength to it.

Fixes, too are okay, no surprise and early (just started it) DLC.

Not okay, at all, things that interfere with Street Pass like maps holding Dread Scroll and Wedding Dress or Multiplayer options (even practicing, like MK8 tracks).

A DLCs, like free mods that place a subtle contextual advert like Mercedes and MK8 is fine. Even be fine if tracks got penzoil ads or timer by Taguer, be nice to close a time at the end of all races, especially as a VR factor. Or in fights with Deathmatches in CoD having partially burnt Coke ads on city streets.
